pH - Get it right the first time



Everybody measures it and most think it's simple, yet pH can be a difficult parameter to measure correctly. Your control parameter may be completely incorrect due to air bubbles, low electrolyte solution, electrolyte leakage, or contamination. Process issues then follow and lack of confidence in the pH probe, leading to premature replacement of electrodes.


There are solutions, however, that help you overcome these issues easily.

How to enhance electrode lifetime and get trustworthy results:

  • Condition new electrodes before first use.
  • Check refillable electrodes for sufficient level of electrolyte in the shaft. Refill up to 3mm from refill hole.
  • Open refill hole before the first measurement and always close when you are done for the day.
  • Always store electrodes in proper storage solution as mentioned in electrode documentation.
  • Keep the diaphragm clean and safe from drying out.
  • Keep the glas bulb clean and eliminate air bubbles before measuring.
  • Use proper cleaning solutions to cleanse your electrode.
